Vintage shopping in Copenhagen: the best second-hand and vintage shops
Vintage shopping & hygge in colorful Copenhagen.
We recently visited Copenhagen, and of course, we couldn't resist going vintage hunting. Copenhagen has a huge secondhand and vintage scene, from thrift stores and pre-loved gems to true vintage boutiques with unique designer pieces. In this blog post, we'll share our favorite vintage spots – including great coffee shops for a quick break.
Center: skip Strøget, go one street further
In our opinion, it's best to skip the large fast-fashion chains on Strøget . Walk a little further and you'll find a much nicer neighborhood. Around the University of Copenhagen, on Studiestræde and Larsbjørnsstræde , there are loads of vintage and secondhand shops.
Our favorites here are Veras , with a mix of pre-loved and vintage items, and Episode : two floors of vintage, clearly organized by category. Looking for Y2K items? Then you can go to Thrift Planet , across from Veras.
If you are looking for real vintage, almost antique pieces or special designer items, then you should definitely not miss Carmen .
Other nice shops in this area include Wasteland and Quirky Lane .
Need a break after all that shopping? Enjoy a cappuccino or chai latte with a delicious Danish pastry at Alaska Kaffe , or grab an affordable lunch at The Livingroom . You'll be ready to go again.
Towards Nyhavn
About a ten-minute walk from the vibrant Nyhavn, you'll find a truly unique shop: Wald's Vintage & Secondhand . It's a self-service store with no staff, where you pay at a self-checkout. The Wilde Shop is also on the same street, perfect for those looking for unique designer pieces. Combine it with a visit to Magstræde (Copenhagen's oldest street) and end your afternoon at the city's cutest café, Emmylou , for that true "hygge" feeling.
Nørrebro
In Nørrebro, one of the city's most creative neighborhoods, you'll find even more vintage hotspots along Nørrebrogade . Think Crush Vintage , Scoop Vintage , Keiko , UFF Humana , PRAG , and Fremtiden .
Need a break? Stop for a coffee or smoothie at Kaffebaren 42. Still not done shopping? Then head to Elmegade , where you'll find Chamoi , Hello Good Buy , and Something Else Vintage & Secondhand, among others.
Vesterbro
Vesterbro is also a great neighborhood for vintage shopping. Start your day with a good (though pricey) coffee at the trendy Buna & Co and then stroll along Vesterbrogade towards the station. Along the way, you'll pass:
Kirkens Korshær Genbrug (thrift store), PRAG , LopGun (similar to 'Your Market Stall'), UFF Humana , Clean Your Closet (modern second-hand with brands like Stine Goya, Ganni and Baum und Pferdgarten) and VON Vintage .
Afterwards, stop by SSAM for some delicious Korean comfort food, highly recommended after a long day of shopping.
