Petit Paris goes NYC
Vintage shopping in the city that never sleeps
A month ago, I set foot on American soil for the first time. My boyfriend, who works in the aviation industry, and I'm fortunate enough to be able to take many wonderful trips together. After Tokyo at the end of last year, New York was now on the agenda. Besides tons of sightseeing, drinking iced coffees, and spotting squirrels in Central Park, I also went vintage hunting, of course. Well prepared with an extra, empty suitcase and a long list of vintage shops and flea markets, we left for New York City in early August.
We visited Goodwill thrift stores, flea markets, and various vintage shops, among other places. I had high expectations for the thrifting scene in the US after watching several American vloggers on YouTube find the most beautiful gems at thrift stores like Goodwill.
Unfortunately, those thrift stores were rather disappointing; most of the clothing at Goodwill consisted of low-quality fast-fashion brands like Shein, and the few vintage items I found were mostly damaged. Luckily, there were plenty of other places on my list, so we set off for the flea markets with high hopes.

The Brooklyn Flea and Chelsea flea markets were my favorites; they had a relaxed atmosphere and were incredibly eccentric, with each seller having their own unique style and truly special items! This naturally led to a higher price. I had to give up this fantastic blue sequined 'Stars & Stripes' jacket with a heavy heart; with a price tag of $200, it was unfortunately out of my budget. I did, however, pick up this fantastic rainbow dress.

In the days that followed, we gradually worked our way down my list of addresses in every neighborhood we visited. In the East Village, in particular, we found several vintage shops with beautiful collections.

So, we've once again managed to gather a fantastic selection of gems for you, including a silk dress by designer Rachel Comey with the price tag ($825) still attached, a shiny sequin skirt, and a cool 80s bomber jacket. A whopping 20 pieces in total, so my suitcase was well-stocked!

Finally, on our last day, we traveled all over the city again to photograph six outfits. My favorite photo locations were the cinematic Radio City Music Hall and the colorful Coney Island.
It was a great trip and I really enjoyed this vibrant city with its many faces.
